I have wasted 2 hours of my life and have now solved the problem.
The answer is hidden in the bowels of the HP website.
The solution is far from high tec.
All you need to do is lift the lid to the toner and close it again
after the one side has printed and you have reloaded the paper and
then by magic the second side prints.
I can't believe how monkey this is.
