The OP doesn't do it from scratch AFAIU. He's got some basics in English.
And yes, you can spend some really precious time on reading simple and dull texts if you have nothing else to do in life. But that's kind of beyond me. Why not speak Russian? Why would anyone in his right mind exchange the divine Russian language in all its richness for that «simple» English? Crazy, imho.
