помню была такая ошибка.в гноме работало нормально в кедах не работало. # Use Xft?

В конфиге должно быть "own_window yes", иначе окно потеряется под плазмодесктопом. Если окно прозрачное, то запускать надо с feh, отрисовывающим под коньками текущий волпапер.
