У меня NVidia GeForce с драйверами от NVidia. Соответственно, с другими картами работать не будет.

=) ты меня прям обидел. конечно же конфиг я твой немного поправил (вписал свои девайсы туда), но мать её, не хотят работать иксы

она закомментирована...

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 и отвечать.
По крайней мере в VESA-режиме обязано подняться, а потом уже доведешь 8)
