проблемы с боркой любого софта

Помагите, плиз! Проблема одна и таже при сборке любого софта, в данном случае MC.

Такой вот софт:

Ubuntu 5.10 "Breezy Badger"

Linux 2.6.12-9-386

gcc version 4.0.2 20050808 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.0.1-4ubuntu9)

Вы по-английиски читать умеете? Там же написано посмотрите config.log. Вот и киньте его сюда

Приведенная фраза об ошибке вас ни к размышлениям не приводит?
Сделайте простенькую C программу и соберите ее с помощью gcc:
gcc something.c -o test
и посмотрите что будет.

З.Ы. Дома тоже Ubuntu - там все собирается на ура.

Пустой проект собираю, а он говарит:

gcc: installation problem. cannot exec 'as': No such file or directory
