Достался комп от виндузятников, на который была установлена генточка.
# grub2-install /dev/sda
...

Ну ок:
# dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=512 count=1 seek=32
# grub2-install /dev/sda
Installation finished. No error reported.
Через некоторое время обновился grub2 и я решил переустановить его загрузчик (не знаю зачем, захотелось):
# grub2-install /dev/sda
