Wayland's reference compositor, a.k.a. Weston, is now running on Google's Android.
As first reported last month, Collabora has been financing a developer to port Wayland to Google's Android platform. Last month there was modest progress to show, but now Pekka Paalanen at Collabora has the Weston compositor running on his mobile device with Android.
Pekka also has the Cairo graphics library on Android for this work.
At the moment the current work is on getting Android's libEGL to support Wayland.
In this blog post, Paalanen shows Wayland's Weston and the desktop shell from a Google Nexus device. All of this code to make the magic happen is found on wayland_aggregate via the Collabora Git server.
