Linux development engineer (compiler, debugger, system monitoring tools, kernel).

Team works on Linux toolchain and tracing projects. The projects involve both user space tools (like compilers and debuggers) and the Linux kernel.

The candidate needs to know the Linux kernel (right now this is what we are working on), but also should know about the toolchain (gcc, linker), and systemtap. We are looking for a highly motivated individual contributor who feels passionate about coding and delivering the best product possible. Needs to have good written and verbal (oral and written) communication skills including presenting and demonstrating to technical audiences. Will also participate in the testing process through test review, analysis, and development. Needs to be a self-starter, able to deliver projects on time and to high standards with minimal supervision and coaching. Proven ability to work as a team player who can both participate and lead complex projects with a geographically distributed group of peers and team members.

Experience: 5+ years

Skills: Strong experience with Linux Kernel development, not limited to kernel module development, but specific to the core of the operating system. Good working knowledge of detailed operating system concepts required. Experience with development of GNU tools (gcc, gdb, glibc, binutils, etc). Experience with tracing tools, (Systemtap, ftrace, etc) and good knowledge of their internals highly desirable, famliarity with debugging formats is a plus. C, C++, Scripting Languages. Unix and Linux development environment experience strictly required. Familiarity with the Open Source communities and processes.

Education: Bachelor's or Master in Computer Science or related field.
