Four years ago I founded Kiddix Computing, a company dedicated to building safe and friendly computing environments for children. This mission has been embodied in our core product Kiddix, a family-friendly operating system and software stack for children. Since our 1.0 release of Kiddix three years ago we have gained users from all over the world, but have been developing inside a closed environment. This will now be changing...
Starting today we are fully open sourcing our Kiddix software stack, and will be building new improvements with guidance and support from you, the community!
I firmly believe that our goal of providing children with a safe haven for computing, and putting parents in control of that experience, is of the utmost importance. This is an area that has received too little attention from major software vendors, who continue to market one-size-fits-all solutions. This is where Kiddix can make a difference, and you can make a difference.
Through June 15th, you can help support our initiative by purchasing or donating a copy of our latest Kiddix release, (a $50 value!), for any price you think is fair, or can afford. Individuals who support us with a purchase of $20 or more will be given a coupon code to download our future Kiddix 2.0 release at a deep discount. Proceeds generated will help support our continued development efforts.
In addition, for every $10,000 we raise, we will donate two Intel Convertible Classmate PC's bundled with Kiddix to one of several selected children's organizations!
