Hi,
I have a question about Seowon SWU-3220A WiMAX modem
(http://www.seowonintech.co.kr/en/product/detail.asp?num=111&big_kind=B04&midd...
which is based on GDM7213s chipset
(http://www.gctsemi.com/html/WiMax.html) and uses uClinux
(http://www.uclinux.org/) as it embedded OS, which is opensource (GPL,
isn't it?). So I was wondering when i didn't find sources or even any
whitepapers about this chipset.
So i ask You to make available modified sources and scripts you use in firmware.
As for me it is really important to have opensource drivers for
hardware I use and for community it is really important to get back
their modified sources. I think you are violated GPL license and
should terminate do this.
Please, publish sources and note that you uses GPL code in firmware

Is there any FSF-copyrighted code in this? If so,
the FSF can enforce the free software license.
(We don't like the term «open source»
because it fails to present this as a matter of right and wrong.
See http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/open-source-misses-the-point.html.)

Thanks for quick reply,
In usb modem update software i found two interesting files, zImage and
ramdisk.jffs2. After mounting ramdisk.jffs2 i found there root file
system with busybox, init (?) and /usr/wimax executable. AFAIK busybox
is GPLv2. zImage is looks like gziped vmlinux with cpio-compressed
initramfs. Linux sources are also copyrighted by GPLv2.
Connection programm uses libssh2.dll FSF-copyrighted library:
File Version Information :
Version language : English (United States)
LegalCopyright : (c) 2004-2007 Sara Golemon <sarag@libssh2.org>
ProductName : libssh2.dll
ProductVersion : 1.0
License : Released under GPL.
FileDescription : libssh2 1.0
FileVersion : 1.0
InternalName : libssh2
OriginalFilename : libssh2.dll
WWW : http://www.libssh2.org/
(taken with Version Information viewer plugin for Total Commander v2.1.0)
Also it uses next libraries and for some of them it is important (due
to license) to note that software uses it's libraries.
libcurl.dll
libeay32.dll
libidn-11.dll
libssl32.dll
ssleay32.dll
zlib1.dll
I don't want to be likes patent troll, but I have no choice, the
connection software comes without any license note or even README,
AUTHORS, COPYRIGHTS, or other files...
I'm a confused who is violating FSF-copyright, GCTsemiconductors, the
chipset manufacturer, Seowon intech, the usb modem manufacturer, or
Freshtel, the WiMAX provider in Kiev, Ukraine, which also provides
software update for usb modem.
Generally, i just need some specs for this modem to write driver and
take out windows(c) copy from virtual machine and fully migrate on my
gentoo.

I told someone who can enforce for Busybox. Thanks.
I don't want to be likes patent troll,
Don't worry, you are nothing like them.
Patent trolls threaten people in order to squeeze money out of them.
You are helping to defend the freedom of other users.
Distributing non-free software is always an injustice.
In this case, we have a legal remedy for stopping it.
I'm a confused who is violating FSF-copyright, GCTsemiconductors, the
chipset manufacturer, Seowon intech, the usb modem manufacturer, or
Freshtel, the WiMAX provider in Kiev, Ukraine, which also provides
software update for usb modem.
I don't know either, but don't worry about it. The people who do
enforcement are the ones whose job it is to figure that out.
FSF (fsf.org).
