My company supplies computers to prisons for inmates to use for education and rehab. The desktops generally include a selection of edu apps and some games like aisleriot, gnomine, gcompris, frozen-bubble, flightgear, and others.
A few months back we moved the desktop SOE from hardy to wheezy and found that flightgear is not available from the standard repo (it is in squeeze and jessie, IIUC).
Can anyone recommend suitable games which are engaging and interesting? The games must not offer network play, a scripting subsystem, or shell. We also need to avoid the usual FPS games.
Some of the games on steam look awesome, but licensing problems would get it in the way.
edit: All network connectivity between end-points is blocked at multiple levels, so no need to compile out the network functions of games. But games that demand network connectivity wouldn't work.
edit2: Some background info here, for those interested.
edit3: The client desktops provide homedir's on the server, users can save game progress, high-scores, documents, etc, although they can't share any data with each other.
