В порядке информации и ..гм.. той самой сказки :)

Как некоторые знают, последние примерно года два я находился под следствием. Все то же общенародно любимое издательство подало на меня заявление, обвинив во всевозможных грехах: от незаконного чтения до руководства международным преступным синдикатом. Ну и в соответственном теневом обогащении, само собой.

Силы правопорядка немного прифигели и отработали стандартную программу. В том числе собрали по мне доступную информацию, провели обыски по месту прописки и работы, изъяли ноутбук. Потом сели и стали смотреть, какой подпольный акул им достался.

Результат на сегодняшний день: дело закрыто. Следствие не нашло и не расчитывает найти никаких нарушений, выходящих за рамки пренебрежимой мелочи. Что не удивительно, так как наиболее серьезное, оно же единственное, обвинение из оставшихся после рассмотрения - я, редиска такая, отвечаю на вопросы пользователей в блогофорумах. Помимо лично меня, была сделана попытка криминализировать также и саму библиотеку целиком (с совершенно великолепными аргументами), которая аналогично провалилась.

Отдельно следствие зафиксировало, что библиотека/сайт носят некоммерческий характер и не генерируют доходов. Это к теме монетизации и тайных миллионных прибылей с Флибусты, над которыми регулярно ломают голову и фантазию лучшие умы нашей эпохи. Облом-с :) Иногда банан - просто банан. Посоветовали организоваться в благотворительное общество.

Ноутбук вернули в целости вместе с вердиктом «расшифровка невозможна». На нем, разумеется, стоял и стоит полносистемный TrueCrypt.

В общем итог типичный: много денег, времени и усилий без малейшего смысла и толка. Что-то мне подсказывает, что все расходы были вычтены из гонораров и без того бедствующих авторов. Но борьба с читателями - священный долг каждого, ведь верно?

University of Utah computer scientists have developed software that not only detects and eradicates never-before-seen viruses and other malware, but also automatically repairs damage caused by them. The software then prevents the invader from ever infecting the computer again.

A3 is a software suite that works with a virtual machine — a virtual computer that emulates the operations of a computer without dedicated hardware. The A3 software is designed to watch over the virtual machine's operating system and applications, says Eric Eide, University of Utah research assistant professor of computer science leading the university's A3 team with U computer science associate professor John Regehr. A3 is designed to protect servers or similar business-grade computers that run on the Linux operating system. It also has been demonstrated to protect military applications.

The new software called A3, or Advanced Adaptive Applications, was co-developed by Massachusetts-based defense contractor, Raytheon BBN, and was funded by Clean-Slate Design of Resilient, Adaptive, Secure Hosts, a program of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The four-year project was completed in late September.

To test A3's effectiveness, the team from the U and Raytheon BBN used the infamous software bug called Shellshock for a demonstration to DARPA officials in Jacksonville, Florida, in September. A3 discovered the Shellshock attack on a Web server and repaired the damage in four minutes, Eide says. The team also tested A3 successfully on another half-dozen pieces of malware.

The GNOME community was shocked that Groupon would use our mark for a product so closely related to the GNOME desktop and technology. It's become abundantly clear that this is no longer the project I originally joined in 1996. We've made some good things, and I wish everyone well, but I'm out.

Note that this also constitutes an orphaning as upstream of debhelper, alien, dpkg-repack, and debmirror.

I will be making final orphaning uploads of other packages that are not team maintained, over the next couple of days, as bandwidth allows.

If I have one regret from my 18 years in Debian, it's that when the Debian constitution was originally proposed, despite seeing it as dubious, I neglected to speak out against it. It's clear to me now that it's a toxic document, that has slowly but surely led Debian in very unhealthy directions.

Currently Fedora 21 has a build of systemd that includes a new feature that was added upstream after the release of 216, which is intended to time out system startup if it’s not complete after 15 minutes – the idea being to avoid things like your laptop melting / starting a fire in your bag if it gets accidentally powered on, stuff like that.

Unfortunately, turns out that having a timeout that hard powers down the system if boot hasn’t completed after 15 minutes doesn’t work very well with fedup, because while fedup’s actual ‘install the updated packages’ step is running, systemd considers that boot has not ‘completed’. So if you try and fedup to Fedora 21 using a fedup environment that has the affected systemd build (like the one in the Beta tree, and also in the current 21 ‘stable’ tree), and your ‘install updated packages’ boot takes more than 15 minutes, it’ll just suddenly cut off and shut down. Obviously, there’s quite a high chance that’ll leave the system in a broken state.

So: don’t do it. Really, don’t.

Using «their» as pronoun in these places is confusing since it is more associated with plural rather than singular, and the sentence already contains a plural. The word «her/his» apparently offends some people, hence let's avoid the problem altogether and just name the noun again.

Наверное, название уже подсказало вам, что это не научпоп, произрастающий из университетских и научно-журнальных (чужих) текстов, то есть не совсем «Компьюлента». Верно, не она. A Russian hacking group probably working for the government has been exploiting a previously unknown flaw in Microsoft’s Windows operating system to spy on NATO, the Ukrainian government, a U.S. university researcher and other national security targets, according to a new report.

A film adaptation of the classic ‘80s video game “Tetris” will be falling into theaters sometime in the near future.

Threshold Entertainment has teamed up with the Tetris Company to develop a live-action film based on the game. While no directors or cast are attached to the film yet, there is a story in place.

“It’s a very big, epic sci-fi movie,” Threshold’s CEO Larry Kasanoff tells Speakeasy exclusively. “This isn’t a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We’re not giving feet to the geometric shapes.”
