Люди - очень забавные существа. А гики - так и вовсе подтверждают первоначальный смысл слова geek (цирковой уродец, вообще-то). В том смысле, что смеяться над ними даже как-то и грешно.

Какая-то невыносимая чепуха вроде «снижения популярности» одного дистрибутива Linux в пользу «повышения популярности» другого вызывает бурю эмоций вплоть до ментальных расстройств :) И это при том, что речь идёт, по большому счёту, о весьма маргинальных «повышениях» и «снижениях», до которых, по сути, никому никакого дела нет, включая и тех, кто ежедневно пользуется что «утрачивающим популярность», что «набирающим вес» дистрибутивом.

А вот явления серьёзные и знаковые как-то проходят совершенно мимо внимания. Как будто их и нет.

Тут, понимаете, зреют чуть ли не геотектонического масштаба катаклизмы, а в песочнице всё из-за пасочек рвут друг дружке остатки волосиков и мечут в глаза песочком :)

Между тем, на днях действительно произошли весьма забавные события. Оба вроде как незначительные, но вот есть кое-какие о них соображения...

Не могу взять в толк -за что стебутся с сабжа даже ведузятники? Вроде серьёзный продукт, а обзывают его вон «язык общего назначения». Это ж вроде хорошо или?

Вообще сабж применим для чего-то специфического и от чего же он загибается?

3.2. Basic SELinux Enablement

In addition to AppArmor, SELinux capabilities were added as Technology Preview to SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 Service Pack 1, which will allow users to enable SELinux in SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop Service Pack 1, if they wish.

What does SELinux basic enablement mean?

The shipped kernel features SELinux support.

We will apply SELinux patches to all «common» userland packages.

The libraries required for SELinux (libselinux, libsepol, libsemanage, etc.) were added to openSUSE and SUSE Linux Enterprise.

However, we are not offering enterprise class support for SELinux at this time; thus we will run QA with SELinux disabled to ensure that SELinux patches do not break the default delivery and the majority of packages.

We will not be shipping SELinux specific tools as part of the default distribution delivery. However, the packages (such as checkpolicy, policycoreutils, selinux-doc) will be available through the SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop repositories.

By enabling SELinux in our upcoming codebase, we add missing pieces of code that exist in the community already, and we allow those who wish to use SELinux to do so conveniently without having to replace a large portion of the distribution.

3.7. The LibreOffice Suite replaces the OpenOffice.org Packages

OpenOffice.org has been replaced with LibreOffice. If you perform an upgrade, manual interaction is needed, otherwise you will stay with the old OpenOffice.org packages. Future updates will only be prepared and published for LibreOffice. Some parts of the documentation packages still mention 'OpenOffice.org'.

Тему выдрал из пакета IceWM для Mageia.

Может в Fedora есть конфигураторы меню, но в SL нет. (слава Всевышнему - vim есть)

Со временем буду продолжать настройку.
